Ascesa e declino di una famiglia borghese sotto l’accecante sole barese.
Si potrebbe riassumere così la trama del romanzo premio Strega 2015.
Un nucleo familiare assetato di danaro e potere diventa devastante per i suoi membri più deboli.

La trama è costruita bene e la promessa del titolo viene mantenuta, la storia è feroce e magnifica.
Nicola Lagioia riesce a dare il meglio di sé quando racconta la Bari della sua giovinezza.

Peccato solo che lo stile spesso diventi verboso ed a volte stucchevole.
Ed io come Giuseppe Greco, uno dei personaggi minori nel libro, scrivo dal profondo sud sperando di essere letto.

The rise and fall of a bourgeois family in the blinding sun of Bari.  

It could be summarized like that the plot of the novel Strega Prize in 2015.  

A family hungry for money and power becomes devastating for its weakest members.

The plot is well built and the promise of the title is retained, the story is fierce and magnificent.  

Nicola Lagioia can give the best of himself when he tells the Bari of his youth.

Just a shame that style often become verbose and sometimes cloying.  

As Giuseppe Greco, one of the minor characters in the book , I write from the deep south, hoping to be read.
